Reporting to: Company Owner/Operator


Compensation: $18.85/hr, plus access to a health spending account after 3 months of employment


Hours: Casual, 10 hours per week, Flexible Schedule, some remote work and pre-booked vacation is an option. Some availability is required Monday to Friday 10:30A-5P.


Start/End: Start December 4, position continues indefinitely.


Location: St. John’s area at various locations


About Us


Yorabode is a small woman owned business centred around homes. We have a line of handmade home goods and the company owner, Emily, does affordable housing and renovation consulting (see more here). We are looking for help specifically with promoting our product line and engaging with those customers. The company is very small, so you can expect to have your hands in many things. In this position, you will work with existing materials and develop new ones. You’ll collaborate directly with the company owner and our small team to create consistent and high quality content. We are currently active on instagram, a blog on our website and an email newsletter, but are hoping to expand this.


Key responsibilities & duties


  • Writing, reviewing, editing, and updating content for company website (managed through Wix) blogs, marketing materials, and similar platforms

  • Creating product listings, photography and copy and uploading them to the website

  • Capturing and editing video

  • Taking and editing photos or acting as an assistant during photoshoots

  • Creating event listings and press releases

  • Creating print media and managing printing process

  • Developing a social media plan with input from manager

  • Maintaining a calendar with marketing and event information

  • Monitoring engagement on social media accounts and reporting on progress to manager monthly

  • Using social media to engage consumers, respond to questions or complaints, and to promote company initiatives

  • Creative concepts and suggestions on new ways to reach customers

  • Reviewing strategy and posts with manager prior to posting


Work experience and skills


  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal (bonus if you can communicate in French)

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Experience creating strong and engaging content

  • A portfolio of applicable work (ie. blog posts, social media photos, video, photography)

  • An understanding of SEO best practices.

  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing.

  • Honest, trustworthy and able to work unsupervised

  • Flexible schedule

  • Attention to detail

  • Resourcefulness and creative thinking

  • Use of personal smart phone will be required

  • Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy
